Privacy Policy

Last updated 20 September 2026

CalcHack is a study tool that reads a photo of an SAT math question and explains how to solve it in Desmos. This page describes exactly what it collects and who it passes data to. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past.

What we don't collect

Who we share data with

CalcHack is a small independent project and relies on a handful of established services to run. Each one receives only what it needs:

We do not sell personal data, and we have no arrangement with anyone to share it for advertising.

Google sign-in

If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and nothing else. We do not request access to your Gmail, Drive, contacts, calendar, or any other Google service, and CalcHack's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Who this is for

CalcHack is built for students taking the SAT in the United States, and that's who it's offered to. We don't target or advertise to people outside the US. If you use it from elsewhere, the data described above is processed on servers in the United States.

Students under 18

CalcHack is built for high school students, so many of the people using it are minors. We collect as little as possible for that reason. CalcHack is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you are under 18, please get a parent or guardian's permission before buying a membership.

How long we keep things

Nothing is kept indefinitely "just in case":

DataKept for
Question photosNot kept. Passed to the AI to answer that one question and discarded.
Account emailUntil you delete your account.
Synced scan historyYour most recent 60 scans, until you delete your account or clear your history.
Free-scan counters48 hours.
Wrong-answer reports6 months, then deleted automatically.
Payment recordsHeld by Stripe under their retention rules, which we don't control.

Deleting your data

Your scan history is stored in your own browser — Settings → Delete all inside the app clears it instantly, and so does clearing your browser data. To delete your account entirely, use Settings → Delete my account: it erases your synced history, cancels any subscription so you're never billed again, and removes the account. If anything is left over, email us and we'll finish it within seven days.

Security

Traffic to and from CalcHack is encrypted over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed by Supabase and are never visible to us. No system is perfect, and we'd rather say that plainly than promise otherwise.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
